Our Story *

A dog sits on a dirt path facing away, with its back to the camera, looking at a large tree in the distance during sunset.

About K9 Shutter.

K9 Shutter was created from a fascination with dogs — not as pets, but as presence.

I photograph dogs in a way that feels intentional, grounded and honest.
Less about perfection, more about character.

The Approach

Every session starts with attention.

I work calmly and guided, leaving space for natural movement and unplanned moments.
Whether we’re shooting in an urban environment, in nature, or within a more conceptual setting — the focus is always on presence and atmosphere.

Dogs don’t need to perform.
They don’t need to be trained, posed or “on their best behavior”.

They just need space.

Beyond the Portrait

My work sits somewhere between documentary and editorial photography.

I’m drawn to:

  • strong silhouettes

  • texture and contrast

  • quiet tension

  • moments that feel slightly unfinished

Each image is treated as a standalone frame — cinematic, but grounded in reality.

Working With People

You don’t need modeling experience.
I’ll guide you where needed, while keeping everything relaxed and natural.

Whether you’re deeply involved in the images or remain subtly present — the shoot adapts to you and your dog, not the other way around.

Care & Responsibility

Every decision during a shoot is made with your dog’s well-being in mind.

This is especially important in:

  • long-term puppy projects

  • storytelling sessions

  • end of life sessions

Some moments deserve more patience, more quiet, and more care.

The Philosophy

I believe the most powerful images aren’t created by control —
but by attention.

By slowing down.
By noticing what’s already there.

About the Photographer

I’m a dog photographer based in the Netherlands, working with clients who value atmosphere, storytelling and intention.

K9 Shutter is not about trends or volume —
it’s about creating images that hold weight over time.

Let’s Work Together

If my work resonates with you, I’d love to hear your story.
